Growing neoHOUSTON

Today I’d like to introduce neoHOUSTON’s newest contributing author, Dean Hall.

Dean is an embedded systems engineer in Houston.  He worked for Motorola in Austin, TX for seven years and now mixes contract work and raising his kids.  He has traveled extensively, and taken a lot of transit – including the Eurostar through the chunnel, Shanghai’s maglev, the Pittsburgh trolley and the subways in Shanghai, Beijing, Barcelona, London and Paris.

Dean’s first post will be published shortly – and it’s quite good. I hope you’ll all take a look and leave him some feedback!

I’d also like to open up the invitation for other contributors to join the site. Over the past two years I’ve had a blast as the primary author here, but I’ve also quite enjoyed the handful of guest posts I’ve been fortunate enough to host. I’d like to do more of that in the future, as it will add new and interesting perspectives to the dialogue, as well as keep the site fresher than I can manage alone.

Therefore, if you’re a regular reader and there are things you’d like to talk about on this site, shoot me an email (andrew[at]neohouston[dot]com). Tell me what you’d like to write about, and whether you’d like to submit a single post, or become a regular contributor.

For regular contributors, I’d prefer at least 2-3 submissions per month, so think about that a little bit before you offer to join as a regular.

I’m open to basically anyone who has something interesting to say and can put it into words, but I will reserve editorial control over the blog, and may or may not accept anyone as a contributor. Basically, if the stuff you’re writing fits the perspective and purpose of this blog, I’ll probably accept it. If not, I probably won’t.

So, with all that said, let me know if you’re interested! I’m looking forward to growing the site!
