Welcome to the blog!

I figure every blog needs a first post. Nothing monumental, but here it is.

This blog is going to cover my take on urban issues in Houston, particularly related to transportation and land use. I’ll occasionally dabble in other things.

My ability to keep this fresh will depend in some measure on how busy work is, I’m sure everyone can relate to that. Fortunately my day job is pretty reasonable, and I usually get home with enough energy to write a bit.

My goal is to take on things that people are talking about in the general Houston news/blogosphere and give an alternative take. I’m not going to try and report much in the way of original news, but I may occasionally if I happen to hear something interesting. Mainly, I just wanted a spot to post information that would be too long and lengthy hiding in the bottoms of other people’s forums.

I’ve got some links on the sides to other blogs I read a lot, I’ll often post my thoughts directly in response to theirs.
